meteor??

We ended up staying a couple nights at Meteor Crater Campground. Hmmmm... guess it was called that due to the large crater nearby. So of course we (I) had to check it out! The meteor crater is not the largest in the world, or the most famous. But since it isn't overrun with vegetation or even towns, it's pretty neat to see. It was originally, in the early 1900s, thought to be volcanic in nature. One guy spent like 25 years trying to prove it was a meteor crater. He never quite proved it, but he also didn't know what he was looking for. Plus the possibility of something falling from the sky and hitting earth was not accepted yet.

This path down into the crater (can you see it first going down to the right, then going down to the left?) was how the guy went in and out, taking wagons of stuff in and out. omg! Plus NASA astronauts have trained there, and a movie was filmed there. And all of those people also went in and out of this path that switchbacks all the way down. Interesting, huh?!
