sidenote

or should I say sidepicture? LOL

Anyway - someone took these photos of the Dream as she was leaving Port Canaveral on 5/15.
That means I'm hanging out on an aft (back end) deck of the ship with some friends from cruisecritic.com. I can't see me specifically - but I'm there! I was taking pix of the folks in Jetty Park - where the photographer of these photos was standing. LOL

Is this not the coolest??!!

vacation: step 1

Get down to Florida for a Dream of a cruise, Carnival Dream, that is. Greg rode the bike down and I flew into Orlando, where he picked me up. We spent two nights at Port Canaveral, as evidenced by the prior post. Then we got onboard the Dream for a 7 night Western Caribbean cruise to Cozumel, Roatan (Honduras), Belize and Costa Maya (Mexico). More about the ports later...

We went to our cabin first. We originally had booked an inside cabin, but due to price drops, we were able to upgrade to a "cove" balcony for only $100. omg, wow! and I just loved that balcony! It's on the second deck of guest cabins, so it's relatively close to the waterline.

And yes, the balcony is small - they all are! The Cove balcony is actually a little deeper than standard. It was plenty big for me and Greg and our room service breakfast. ;)

The balconies are built into the hull of the ship, so they are very private. But there is still enough of a view! This photo shows the Port of Canaveral.

Sometimes people comment about how small cruiseship cabins are - this is standard size for Carnival, and it is definitely bigger than many hotel rooms we've been in! LOL
So yes, cabin bathrooms are small. How much time do you spend in there anyway?? I always get ready in front of the big mirror (above left) where I have even more space to spread out. Even if you do like to get ready in the bathroom itself, there are shelves on both sides of the mirror and quite a bit of space.

yep, the shower is small. but I've been in smaller. and I didn't have any problems with curtain cling this time. woohoo!!!
