Texas

Well, there isn't a lot to say yet. We're still working our way down to San Antonio, Texas, which is kind of the "starting point" for our wanderings.

Going back to our stay in Denver - we had gone there with the intent to spring ski (ok, Greg was going to ski!) and see Steve Meyer (an adult singing comedian) at Vail. However, snow in the mountains closed the tunnel, so we didn't get to ski or see Steve. Bummer! We still had a great time with the folks I mentioned already.

Things don't seem to be going too smoothly yet. Our wireless back-up camera no longer works - the receiver fried. Our XM satellite radio no longer works - the antenna/cradle plug is damaged. Two bolts sheared on the bike Monday night - those bolts hold a piece of frame that is used to strap the bike to the trailer - pretty darn necessary. So we seem to be spending lots of time trying to determine what's wrong, find parts, and fix things.

Because we had a late start Tuesday fixing the bike, we didn't get to our planned stop. We stayed at an RV park I would consider a "short-term stay" place - I wouldn't recommend it to anyone - it's by the interstate, a railway, and under the flight path for an Air Force Base. VERY LOUD!! It was a super windy day, the RV kept getting pushed and tugged. Athough I guess we were fortunate - a couple days earlier the interstate was closed because of the high winds and zero visibility (blowing sand).

BUT... today we'll be stopping at a park that has gotten rave reviews. We're planning 4 nights there, although one of those nights we'll actually be staying at a hotel near Houston (so we can tour the Space Center). Rather than move the RV almost every night, we are "planting" it, then using the bike to do day trips and even occasional overnight trips in the surrounding area. Anyway, hopefully things will start to smooth out for us now and we can enjoy our temporary "retirement" a bit more.

And the weather is amazing today. The wind is lighter, temps are BEAUTIFUL! probably in the 70s already, it's sunny. OMG, I'm thinking of all our Wisconsinite friends and relatives...

No pics for now; I've been bad about taking photos, and there really hasn't been much opportunity. Photos from the front seat of an RV don't turn out that great. LOL
