Avenue of the Giants

Before we left California, we had one more awesome place to tour - the Avenue of the Giants - a 31 mile scenic drive through redwood groves. It is really amazing when you think of how old some of those trees are - many were here before Columbus "discovered" America, a few may even go back to the time of Ancient Rome. omg!!

The "Treehouse" below was previously a gift shop. Now it's just empty, kind of a sad shell of its former life.

It's hard to imagine just how tall these guys are. They aren't as big around as the sequoias, but they're definitely taller. And so regal and imposing.

Had to do at least one drive thru tree!

Near our campground is an area where Roosevelt elk live. It's kind of funny, there are elk crossing signs, and elk viewpoints, and the best - elk radio. LOL This guy was just one of many elk we saw.
