movin' on...

well, kinda. This is directly from a webpg that Greg put together.

Welcome to Greg & Marcia's Pictures Page for our 6-Week Motorcycle Trip.

Last updated 06/08/2008.

Here is our 1,500 mile route for the first 4 days.

Highlights of areas that we plan to travel next are Houston, San Antonio, Colorado, Grand Canyon, the entire Pacific Coast Highway from LA to Vancouver, Montana and the Badlands before returning home.

For this trip, we purchased a new tent, air mattress and sleeping bags. Here, we set everything up in our living room so there would be no surprises while setting up camp the first night.

Getting ready to set up camp while on the road.

Here are some scenic pictures from our trip thus far.

Anyone heard of a Honda Tree?

Our trip wasn't all riding. We also enjoyed some of nature by foot.

Bath Houses in Hot Springs

Unfortunately, our trip came to abrupt end on the 5th day near Broken Bow, OK. It was a relatively windy day; wind gusts were measured at 30+ MPH. While rounding a sweeping curve on a 2-lane 65MPH highway, we believe a strong wind gust suddenly tipped the bike a bit more to the side, jamming the foot peg into the road. Without any warning, we were immediately ejected from the motorcycle. We rolled down the center of the highway like logs. The motorcycle and trailer continued down the road a couple a few hundred yards without us (the cruise control was still on), eventually crossed into the oncoming lane then crashed into the ditch.

We are very lucky that we were able to walk away. We are OK.

Picture of where we were ejected from the motorcycle at the end of the curve (near where a helmet is on the side of the road).

The runaway motorcycle slid down the highway on its left side but it stopped right side down. We believe the bike flipped over when it crashed. Interestingly, the bike is facing uphill??? Numerous people driving past offered their assistance. Here, the State Patrol, an ambulance, and firefighters arrived to help us at the scene.

We are OK.

WE ARE OK.
No broken bones. No concussions. No loss of consciousness. Just some road rash that is healing.

The next day, we rented a 16' moving truck to transport everything home. A picture of the motorcycle will be added to this web page after it is delivered to a Honda dealership for evaluation on Monday.

WE ARE OK.

WE ARE OK.

WE ARE OK.

Hi there Marcia, Erika here from CNH. I just wanted to say I am so happy you are both ok. It's very unfortunate your trip had to end so early, I was really looking forward to living vicariously through you, but you are so lucky to have gotten through this with minor injuries. Heal quickly!!

Glad you posted the "We are okay" enough times that I actually believe it. So sorry to hear the trip is at an end. You two take care.
